Tuesday, April 1, 2025

NAMPULA, 1 April 2025 – The district of Murrupula, in Nampula province, in the north of Mozambique, will mark a significant milestone in strengthening the protection and support for women and children who are victims of domestic violence with the inauguration of the new Integrated Support Centre (CAI). The inauguration ceremony will take place on 2 April 2025, at the Murrupula District Hospital, starting at 09:00.

This centre is a joint initiative of the District Service of Health, Women and Social Action (SDSMAS) and World Vision Mozambique (WV-Moz), under the “Every Girl Can” project. The CAI serves as an essential entry point for integrated care, providing a safe and confidential space for women and children who have experienced violence. The centre will offer assistance in various crucial areas, including health, legal aid, social support, and referrals to the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC).

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by distinguished figures, including the Administrator of Murrupula District, the Director of SDSMAS, representatives from the Office of the Governor's Spouse, the Provincial Social Affairs Service, the Provincial Directorate of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, as well as members of the Adolescents' Committee of the “Every Girl Can” project and local religious leaders.

During the event, the partnership will be formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SDSMAS and WV-Moç, establishing the terms and conditions of mutual cooperation for the operation and sustainability of the CAI in the districts of Murrupula, Nacarôa, and Monapo.

The CAI represents a firm commitment to strengthening the support network for victims of domestic violence in Murrupula. Through the collaboration between the district government and WV-Mz, it is expected that this centre will significantly contribute to the prevention, response, and mitigation of violence, ensuring greater protection of the rights of women and children in Nampula province.
