- International children’s charity appoints Andrew Morley to lead its global work from February 2019
- Prior to joining World Vision in 2016, Mr Morley had a high-level career in business
- This is a crucial moment in World Vision’s history, when a new global strategy is beginning to deliver results
Global relief, development and advocacy organisation World Vision today announced it has appointed Andrew Morley as its new international President and Chief Executive Officer. He will take up the role as the head of the Christian non-profit partnership, which works in nearly 100 countries, from 7 February 2019.
Mr Morley, a British citizen, joined World Vision in January 2016. His current responsibilities include the oversight of strategy, marketing, communications, people and culture, legal and finance. He takes over from Kevin Jenkins, who has served as President since 2009, and who this year announced his intention to leave the role at the end of his second five-year term. Mr Jenkins will assist with the transition until June 2019.
Mr Morley takes up this new role at a crucial moment in World Vision’s history. The staff of more than 40,000 are implementing a global strategy that is beginning to deliver significant improvements in the focus, capacity and structure of its work.
He said: “I am honoured and excited to be selected to lead World Vision. We have strong Christian foundations, a remarkable ability to deliver across all our contexts and a new, unifying strategy. I have never worked with a more passionate and compassionate team. Alongside our donors and partners, I look forward to renewed progress as we seek to serve vulnerable children and fragile communities.”
Donna Shepherd, World Vision International Board Chair, announced the appointment today after a board meeting in Kampala, Uganda: "Andrew was selected from a very strong field of internal and external candidates that included some of the world's foremost executives. Andrew’s knowledge of World Vision will ensure our work with vulnerable children and communities continues to grow stronger. We thank Kevin Jenkins for his exemplary service to World Vision. He has been resolute in establishing solid foundations and we thank him for his leadership.”
Prior to joining World Vision, Andrew led and built successful digital businesses across the internet, retail, technology, telecom, financial services and media sectors. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel UK and had senior executive roles at organisations such as Google Motorola and Sky TV. He spent much of his career in senior international assignments, and has lived and worked in Africa, Australia, France, Germany, Singapore and the United States. He holds a First Class honours degree in Business, Management and Marketing from Liverpool JM University and has a further honours degree in Theology, Ministry and Mission from Durham University.
