WASH Annual Review: 2022

2022 marks the completion of the second year of our current WASH Business Plan (2021-2025). In 2022, we reached 3 million people with clean water, 2.7 million with improved sanitation, and 3.4 million with handwashing facilities. Reflecting our deepening focus on the most vulnerable children, 91% of WASH funding was directed towards fragile and extremely fragile contexts. We built 1,500 piped-water systems - the highest number in a single year to date - which offer improved water accessibility and quality over hand pumps. Just 3% of our community water points were hand pumps, while 70% were household taps and 27% were community taps.
