Health Systems Assessment and Improvement Matrix (S-AIM)

The Health Systems Assessment and Improvement Matrix (S-AIM) is a tool for assessing and improving health systems in support of community health worker programmes, and was piloted in Kenya and Uganda in 2023. 

The S-AIM tool is intended as a complement to the Community Health Worker Assessment and Improvement Matrix (CHW-AIM), published in 2018 by Community Health Impact Coalition, Initiatives Inc., UNICEF and USAID. Taken together, the two tools represent a comprehensive framework for analysing, designing and improving CHW programmes and the health systems that necessarily support them.
