Northern Ethiopia Crisis Response Situation Report - September 2022
DownloadFollowing the resumption of hostilities, a month ago, after a five-month generally calm situation in northern Ethiopia, the displacement of tens of thousands of people has been reported in parts of the Afar, Amhara, and Tigray regions. The situation continues to create higher humanitarian needs and further stretch the limited response capacity of humanitarian partners striving to deliver assistance to people in need.
World Vision is concerned about the resumed conflict’s impact on children and communities living in Tigray, Amhara and Afar regions, especially those caught up in the conflict and those living in frontline areas. The resumption of hostilities also jeopardizes our humanitarian operations with people who are in acute need and desperate for humanitarian assistance.
We have been responding to the humanitarian needs of the people in northern Ethiopia and have reached more than 4.7 million people, 1.9 million of whom are children, through interventions in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), food assistance, health, nutrition, protection, shelter, and cash distribution.
