Foundational Guide: CVA for Climate Action and Environmental Management

Climate change is a key driver of extreme poverty, inequality, and child vulnerability. It impedes the realisation of children’s fundamental rights as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Accountability is a central principle for good governance, including environmental governance for climate change, because it serves to prevent or mitigate negative social and environmental impacts as well as protect against abuses of power. 

Citizen Voice and Action (CVA), World Vision’s proven approach to social accountability, provides a structure for the citizens and potentially affected people to enter the climate change and environmental management decision-making process and monitoring of services and climate financing monitoring. Additionally, the CVA database provides a digital platform to collect and harness data on issues of Climate and Environment management public services deliverables.  This data can be to inform better decision-making at local, national, and global levels 

The foundational guide is intended to help World Vision entities to adapt Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) and other social accountability approaches for local-level advocacy for climate action and environmental management.
