In his address at the National Dialogue on Disaster Preparedness, World Vision Lesotho National Director, Mr. James Chifwelu, emphasized the urgency of strengthening urban disaster resilience. He highlighted the country’s vulnerability to both natural and manmade disasters, including drought, floods, and urbanization challenges. World Vision’s interventions such as Community-Based Disaster Risk Management, hazard mapping, and child protection were showcased as key efforts in disaster preparedness. The speech called for greater accountability, integration of disaster risk reduction into urban planning, and strengthened collaboration across sectors to ensure a more resilient Lesotho.
