World Vision exists to improve child well-being outcomes for those living under difficult circumstances.

The World Vision livelihoods approach recognises that the vast majority (approximately 80 per cent) of vulnerable children where World Vision works live in households that rely on agriculture for their livelihoods.

Many of the world’s poorest people are smallholder farmers in rural and even remote locations. Farming households that include one or more people with disability face an even greater set of barriers. These barriers include prejudice, discrimination, environmental, and institutional factors. They are also heightened for people with and intersecting identities, particularly women with disability. World Vision supports the process of identifying and breaking down these barriers through its agricultural livelihoods programs.

Empowerment and meaningful engagement can be enhanced through the application of simple adaptations alongside more accessible approaches.
