Policy Asks for a Renewed Focus on Ending Child Wasting
DownloadChild wasting is a global crisis that is worsening due to conflict, climate change, rising cost of living, and COVID-19 aftershocks. Undernutrition is responsible for nearly half of all child deaths under age five, and urgent action is needed to scale up prevention, detection, and treatment services across emergency and development contexts.
In order to maximise collective impact on child survival in the hunger and nutrition crisis, and leading up to the Nutrition for Growth Summit in March 2025, the Wasting Advocacy Coalition calls for increased investment and prioritisation in global efforts to combat this deadly issue, ensuring that every child has access to the life-saving support they need.
