iREAD | End of Project Factsheet

After more than three years of implementation, the iREAD project, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Japan shares its impacts and achievements on the educational outcomes of the children of Thapangthong and their communities. Among the key findings of the recent end-line evaluation, it has been noted that:

• Reading comprehension has increased for Grade 3 students, from 5% in 2020 to 44% (+39%) during the end-line evaluation;
• 91% of the teachers trained by iREAD are using new skills to teach reading;
• School drop-out from Grade 1 to 5 students has decreased and reached only 1%, against 8.8% in Thapangthong district.
