Amplifying the Voices of the Children: World Vision's Role in Changing the Narrative of Inclusive Child Participation
DownloadParticipation gives children an opportunity to learn new skills, appreciate community needs and contribute to the development of a nation. The involvement of children also enables them to contribute their views regarding their needs to thrive and reach their full potential. However, cultural and traditional barriers, particularly attitudes that adults have on children's ability to participate (i.e., children should be seen and not heard), hinder children from meaningfully participating in the house and community. Therefore, World Vision Zambia has recognized the importance of creating a platform for children to speak without infringing their rights.
