Listening To Brides
DownloadListening to Brides is a research project to gauge the aspirations and dreams of its participants. Girls have dreams of continuing with their education and working afterward. However, school, poverty, marriage, and other obligations were cited as the main reasons that prevented them from working. The current situation is not equipped to help girls achieve their dreams. Parents, religious leaders, community leaders, etc. need to be made more aware of the rights of girls. Policymakers should ensure that educational institutions, infrastructure, medical facilities, and other services are equitable nationwide. Girls need greater access to services like vocational training which would help them develop marketable skills so they can be self-sufficient citizens as an alternative to getting married. This report addresses these concerns.
