Hospitalised victims of female genital mutilation in Somaliland have revealed its devastating medical consequences as the country’s government vowed to achieve the “total eradication” of the practice.
One 15-year-old girl at the hospital told how she had lost her baby and become incontinent after her stitched up vagina failed to cope with the strain of delivery and she developed fistula.
