150 goats for Somntongo and Sithobelweni Youth!
Sithobelweni- A blessing of one goat is capable of changing circumstances back at home in unlimited ways, according to Siboniso (22), from the Sithobelweni community.
“We are really grateful to World Vision and Eswatini Sugar Association (ESA) for these goats. These will not only help us, but also help our [parents back at home in providing some of our basic needs”, Siboniso said.
This was rendered on 3 June 2022 at the Sithobelweni Inkhundla where World Vision Eswatini in conjunction with Eswatini Sugar Association (ESA) formally held their Goat Launching Project. This project was primarily built to enable the youth from these two communities, Sithobelweni and Somntongo, to venture into the entrepreneurship world.
The event was also graced by the Ministry of Agriculture which played a major role in identifying goats as one of the best survivors in any given climate condition.
A total of 150 goats were donated to the youth.
“We all know how COVID-19 and other factors resulted in increased unemployment. As World Vision, we are therefore looking forward to bringing that much needed change for at least 150 youth members of Sithobela and Somntongo through income generation”, Banele Nkambule, WV Eswatini’s Operations Director said.
Siboniso agreed.
“These goats will indeed assist us with our school expenses because we will be able to expand our blessings and commercialize them’, he said.
This project supports the Sustainable Development Goal which seeks to promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities such as entrepreneurship. It also strives to achieve full and productive employment and, decent work for all men and women, including young people.
