Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
Following the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2022, Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2022 took place in Brisbane, September 19 – 22, 2022. The objective of the conference was to review risk reduction efforts, share and learn about innovative and practical solutions, and for countries and organizations to make actionable commitments against the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-20301.
The conference was beneficial for World Vision Asia Pacific to promote the community voice, our approach and branding, as well as to stay up-to-date with the trends and best practices in disaster risk reduction. Prior to the conference, World Vision Asia Pacific had actively engaged with several consortium and networks that would conduct advocacy, awareness, and campaign at the APMCDRR, such as Global Children and Youth Platform (led by UNMGCY), Asia Pacific Coalition for School Safety (APCSS), Anticipatory Action Regional Technical Working Group (AA RTWG), Children in Climate Change Coalition (CinCCC), and ECHO-HIP Consortium (CARE, Plan, World Vision) for Forecast-Based Early Action (FBEA/AA) project.
Our presence at the APMCDRR was made known through several Side Events (in collaboration with CAN DO, MYTC, and HFI), Learning Labs (in collaboration with ECHO HIP FBEA Consortium) and Exhibition Booth (in collaboration with WV Australia).
With an estimated 3,000 participants from the government, INGOs, UN, donors, academia, science and technology experts, this was a well-seized opportunity to meet and network with a large body of professionals in the humanitarian industry.
