Burkina Faso: Launch of the "SAVE" Project to Strengthen assistance for Vulnerable Populations
By Mohamed El Habib Cissé, Communication and Advocacy Officer
On Tuesday 17 December, our teams launched the SAVE project: "Strengthening Multisectoral Assistance to Vulnerable Populations in Emergency Situations in the Boucle du Mouhoun" in Burkina Faso. This 12-month project aims to reach approximately 22,000 people (girls, women, boys and men) through protection, health, malnutrition and food security activities in the communes of Sanaba, Solenzo and Tougan in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.
Like other regions of the country, the Boucle du Mouhoun is facing a security crisis that is seriously affecting people's lives. This crisis has led to massive population displacement, the destruction of social and health infrastructure, and a steady deterioration of living conditions and economic power within communities. The consequences are particularly severe for the most vulnerable populations, including women, children and the elderly. The SAVE project therefore aims to alleviate the suffering of these communities through a multi-sectoral approach.
In the presence of regional authorities and other stakeholders, the consortium World Vision and APADE (All for Peace and Dignity), in partnership with the local NGO SOS/JD, presented the activities to be carried out under the SAVE project.
“Only by working hand in hand with local authorities, partners, and communities can we achieve the goals of this new project aimed at helping vulnerable people,” declared Mr. SOME, Director of Operations for World Vision International in Burkina Faso, during this significant launch workshop in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, where our teams are already implementing resilience and health-nutrition projects.
Participants warmly welcomed this initiative and pledged their support to maximise the impact of the planned activities.
The SAVE project is implemented by the World Vision and APADE consortium, in partnership with SOS/JD, decentralised government structures and community organisations. It is financed by the Regional Humanitarian Fund for West and Central Africa (FHRAOC).
