“I have become a woman head of household in my community”, thanks PROSECA project

Through the support of the PROSECA Project's Village Savings and Credit Association (AVEC), Germaine transformed her life, evolving from selling local beer to becoming a highly respected leader in her community.

Through her membership in the Village Savings and Credit Association (AVEC) established by the PROSECA food security project, Germaine has earned respect and is considered a "female head of household" by her fellow villagers.

Other women in Bah admire her achievements. She is the proud builder of a house and the owner of oxen, attained through savings and credit. “Since my husband left, the men in the village refuse to court me, saying I already have everything a man can offer,” Germaine shares, laughing.

Inspired by her success, many women in the village have formed AVEC groups to address their own challenges.

Germaine, supporting her seven children alone after being abandoned by her spouse, lives in Bah, Logone Occidental province. She joined the Village Savings and Credit Association (AVEC) through the PROSECA food security project, earning the respect of her village and being acknowledged as the "female head of household."

Her achievements inspire admiration: she has built a house and bought oxen with her savings and credit. Germaine laughs as she shares, "Since my husband left, the men in the village refuse to court me, saying I already have everything a man can offer."

The PROSECA is a EU-funded project, PROSECA. aims to help vulnerable rural populations in the province of Logone Occidental. It achieves sustainable improvements in their food and nutrition security. The project is implemented by the consortium of NGOs Care, World Vision and IHDL.
