DR Congo: Restoring hope to internally displaced persons through cash assistance
By Rodrigue Harakandi, Communications Officer
More than 2,900 households have benefited from more than 480,000 US dollars through I-Life project being implemented by World Vision for displaced people and host families in the Rusthsuru, Nyiragongo and Masisi territories. This project is funded by USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). It provides vital humanitarian cash assistance to people displaced by the conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
These funds are used ethically and responsibly by the beneficiaries, helping to meet the essential needs of displaced families and host families. In the locality of Bushagara in Nyiragongo territory in the province of North Kivu, beneficiaries are using this money to buy nutritious food, launch commercial activities, medicines, clothing and other basic necessities. This has had a huge impact on their daily lives, enabling them to live in dignity and focus on their personal development.
The implementation of this project demonstrates World Vision's commitment to responding to the most urgent humanitarian needs by offering innovative and effective solutions to help people affected by conflict emerge from vulnerability.
Thanks to the commitment of World Vision and its partner, the lives of these people are transformed and hope is reborn in the families benefiting from this assistance.
