Early Childhood Development and Education Center in Kakheti
Early Childhood Development and Education Center was opened today in city Telavi, Kakheti region.
The center was established with joint efforts of World Vision Georgia, Kakheti Area Development Center and Telavi Municipality. Center aims to support early childhood development and education, raise awareness about early education and offers various services supporting children.
Recently the center offers music therapy service to all children, including children with disabilities and special needs.
Music Therapy is a music-based approach that aims to develop various competencies of children using music. The aim of therapy is to support the child development taking into consideration the interests, abilities and needs of the child. It helps to develop the child's speaking, socio-emotional, cognitive and physical skills.
Along the music therapy, center will work with parents and caregivers and offer informational-educational sessions on early childhood education and development, child protection and positive parenting.
The German music therapist Marina Raid-Altunashvili was invited as a special guest who spoke about the methods and achievements of music therapy. She supports Center therapists with relevant supervision and conducts masterclasses for them.
At the end of the opening event she demonstrated the music therapy session where guests had the opportunity to participate in this entertaining musical activity.
The event was attended by the representatives of local governmental and non-governmental sector, local media, World Vision Georgia leadership and staff and other key stakeholders working with children.
Program staff developed the encouraging and motivational slogan of the year “enlighten my early childhood” to raise awareness and promote early childhood development and education among society. The slogan will be used in all communication and visibility products developed within the Early Childhood Development Program.
