Day of Prayer in Burkina Faso : Remaining in Christ to address all challenges
On October 1st of every year, World Vision organises a day of prayer in all its offices around the world. That day, which marks the end of the previous year and the beginning of a new fiscal year, has been dedicated to giving thanks to God for the smooth running of the previous year's activities.
Due to the military coup that took place on 30 September 2022, World Vision's Burkina Faso office was unable to join the partnership for the day of prayer. The prayer day was finally organized on 11 October and was attended by almost all staff, guests and project implementing partners.
The day began with the opening prayer. This was followed by a message from World Vision's International President, Andrew Morley, who wished all the partnership's staff a good day of prayer and reminded them of the challenges ahead. Aware of the difficulties of the moment, he encouraged all staff in their struggle and sacrifice to serve vulnerable communities wherever there is a need.
Response’s Director, Antoine Sanon, gave thanks to the Lord for the various projects implemented over the past year, for staff’s protection, the funding mobilized, the partnership with the Burkinabe authorities and local organizations, and for the new office in which the day of prayer was held.
In addition, he said that World Vision in Burkina Faso will continue to intensify its activities to better serve vulnerable children and families and accompany the government in its efforts to respond to the humanitarian crisis in the country. Finally, the director thanked all the departments for their contributions and commitment for the smooth running of the activities.
This year's theme, "Remaining in Christ" was developed by Pastor Dr Etienne Zongo who recalled that "we are the lucky winners of divine grace because we have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and we must therefore work to always bear fruit to the glory of God”.
In his message, Pastor Zongo invited World Vision to continue to bring hope and joy to the world. And this can only be done by remaining in Christ and participating in the miracle of God.
The day ended with moments of praise, followed by a fraternal meal with all the partners.
