From Witnessing to Agents of Change: A Bayside Church Journey to Eswatini's Mantambe
Last week, 12 members of the Bayside Church embarked on a profound, long and eventful journey alongside World Vision USA support office, venturing deep into the heart of Eswatini's Mantambe Area Programme. What began as just a visit to project sites evolved into an immersive experience of witnessing true transformation unfold before their very eyes.
As they journeyed through the vibrant communities of Bulekeni and Dumenkungwini, the members of Bayside Church were not just observers. They actively participated in a narrative of hope and change. In Bulekeni, they met with the Siphilanaye Savings group and saw the tangible fruits of their unwavering support. Every dollar they invested contributed to the prosperity and empowerment of the community.
However, it was in Dumenkungwini where the impact of their partnership with World Vision truly resonated. Here, over 90 households now enjoy the fundamental luxury of clean and safe water—a testament to the life-changing difference their devoted commitment had made in the lives of countless children and families.
They also saw how the Sponsorship’s programme, through World Vision's unique 'Chosen Activity' illuminated the transformative power of education and skills development. Among its beneficiaries stood Siphelele, a resilient soul nurtured under World Vision's sponsorship since the tender age of five. Now, at twenty, on the brink of completing her high school education, Siphelele is filled with gratitude and hope, embodying the transformative potential of sponsorship.
“I am so happy and thankful for the opportunities World Vision has provided!” Sphelele, (20), said.
The most touching part of the trip was when vulnerable children themselves became the agents of choice, choosing their sponsors live. In those heartfelt exchanges, bonds were formed, reminding both sponsor and child alike of the profound impact they had on each other's lives.
Reflecting on the experience, Brian, a sponsor shared; "Being chosen by a child filled me with profound gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility. It's a reminder of the interconnectedness of our world and the transformative power of love and compassion."
As they bid farewell to Eswatini, the members of Bayside Church left not only as witnesses but also as ambassadors of hope and agents of change. They are a testament to the transformative power of partnership, compassion, and commitment to changing lives.
