In Khadjebi, Ghana, World Vision's area programme is making a remarkable difference in the lives of young people facing challenges such as teenage pregnancy, disability or extreme poverty.
The initiative provides vocational training in fashion design, catering, engineering, welding, hairdressing, electronic and electrical repair, upholstery and carpentry.
The primary goal is to equip these young people with skills for sustainable livelihoods.
Beyond vocational training, the programme emphasises human transformation, focusing on helping vulnerable children overcome poverty and lead fulfilling lives.
Volunteers have been trained in programmes such as the After School Reading Club, mushroom growing, snail farming, rabbit breeding and soap making, all of which contribute to a brighter future.
Among the inspiring stories is that of Fudu, who became a skilled car mechanic after enrolling in the programme. Beaming with happiness, he says, "World Vision has given me hope. I will soon be able to support my family and myself.
Another participant, Christine, expresses her excitement despite her speech impairment: "I thought I'd never learn a trade since my father died. But thanks to World Vision, I can now have a trade to support myself. I'm grateful to World Vision for helping me acquire skills. She celebrates her newfound independence and the skills that will enable her to take control of her life.
