The Water Kiosk approach & the impact on revenue generation and livelihood
As part of the Universal WASH project, World Vision Ghana collaborated with Aquaya Institute to develop and implement the Water Kiosk approach to improve revenue generation. The Water Kiosk is a well-designed outlet that provides a space for water vendors to sell their products. These vendors received a seed grant of GHS 500 + 40 USD) to sell additional items and generate additional income while maintaining a clean environment and providing excellent customer service around the clock. To ensure the success of vendors, capacity-building training was provided to them. The training focused on record-keeping, customer relationships, and personal and environmental hygiene. The District Sanitation and Environmental Health Unit certified vendors after a health screening and testing process.
