Carla Denizard, World Vision's Regional Leader for West Africa, and Janine Lietmeyer, CEO of World Vision Germany, recently visited World Vision Ghana's water quality laboratory, accompanied by several World Vision Germany board members. The laboratory, which serves the entire West Africa region, is equipped with state-of-the-art water testing and analysis technology.
"Thank you for your dedication and commitment to providing safe water for the most vulnerable children," Janine stated after the tour.
The leadership team commended the quality of work and dedication of the lab’s staff and highlighted the lab's critical role in advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on clean water and sanitation.
Elvis Kichana, Laboratory Manager, gave an insight into the essential work of the laboratory: "We test for chemicals and bio-contaminants and analyse their health effects to ensure that the water World Vision Ghana provides to vulnerable children, families and communities is safe.
Robel L Wamisho, Programme Associate Director, WASH highlighted the laboratory’s aspiration to become a centre of excellence, pointing to ongoing assessments to achieve international certification. “Our team is focused on maintaining rigorous accuracy, quality control, and documentation to meet global standards,” he said.
Carla Denizard appealed for additional support from World Vision Germany to acquire advanced water testing equipment. “This will position the facility to deliver efficient, accurate testing and analysis to clients, bolstering its journey to excellence,” she said.
World Vision Ghana remains at the forefront of national health efforts, providing clean drinking water, promoting hygiene, and supporting sustainable infrastructure development. In collaboration with governmental and community organisations, World Vision Ghana’s work continues to reduce waterborne diseases and improve the health outcomes across vulnerable communities.
