World Vision Ghana Introduces a Solar-powered Multi-Purpose Pole to Communities in Agotime-Ziope District
World Vision Ghana, with support from sponsors and donors, has introduced a solar-powered multi-purpose pole to five communities in the Agotime-Ziope District in the Volta Region of Ghana. Due to misinformation, misinterpretation, ambiguity, and bad road networks, it was necessary to work with community members and partners to introduce this innovation.
The solar-powered multi-purpose pole, valued at 11000USD is equipped with a solar panel, solar-powered light, microphones, horn speakers, amplifiers, and a mobile phone.
The purpose of this innovation is to provide reliable first-hand information, facilitate community mobilisation and sensitisation, and bridge the information gap between community members regarding the operation and management of water systems, spiritual nurturing of children, advocacy, and community education on project interventions.
Community operators and volunteers have been trained on how to operate the solar-powered multi-purpose pole. It is managed by the Water Sanitation Management Teams in the participating communities, with the support of the community operators.
