DR Congo: The biggest challenge: getting humanitarian aid to those who need it
By Patrick Abega, Communications Manager, World Vision DRC
This 19th Auguste we celebrate the World Humatria Day. Let's honour these unsung heroes and recognise their resilience. Let's take a moment to appreciate the dedication of our World Vision DRC humanitarian colleagues who tirelessly serve vulnerable populations. This video highlights the challenges of assisting vulnerable communities in remote areas where roads are impassable and insecurity is permanent. Heavy rain turns once-familiar roads into slippery, muddy tracks. Vehicles struggle to maintain traction and sometimes break down, making it difficult to reach remote areas where help is most needed. Faced with these challenges, we sometimes experience delays impacting our programmes and budgets. Despite our challenges, we are managing to deliver assistance and meet the needs of beneficiaries. Let's advocate for better road maintenance. NGOs, governments, and local communities must work together to ensure rapid assistance.
