Between Loss and Hope: One Year of Emergency Response in the West Bank
For the past 12 months, children in the West Bank have faced an unprecedented crisis. Escalating violence, constant movement restrictions, and mounting economic devastation have dominated their lives, dictating what they can and cannot do. In response, World Vision launched an emergency operation on October 13, 2023. Over the past year, we have collaborated with over 300 volunteers and 250 village councils to deliver life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable. To date, we have supported more than 233,000 people.
Our response included:
- 14,000+ people have received emergency support to purchase food and other essentials for their families.
- 52 clinics, serving 100,000 people, have been rehabilitated and equipped to ensure pregnant women, children, and vulnerable individuals can access healthcare.
- 140 schools have been prepared to handle emergencies, ensuring a safer environment for children.
- 250 villages have been equipped with emergency response tools, such as firefighting equipment and first aid kits, to protect communities and keep children safe.
- 35,000 people have received mental health and psychosocial support to help them cope with stress, anxiety, and trauma.
- 40 safe spaces have been built or rehabilitated, providing children with secure environments where they can gather, play, and feel safe.
One year on, World Vision stays mobilized and continues to work alongside the most vulnerable communities of the West Bank to restore a sense of hope in the face of overwhelming loss.
