World Vision International Lesotho (WVIL), as a humanitarian organization is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families, recognizes the critical role it plays in supporting survivors of emergencies. With a comprehensive approach that addresses immediate needs and long-term recovery, World Vision is committed to standing with affected communities before, during, and after emergencies.
In the aftermath of the arson incident, WVIL swiftly conducted a rapid assessment to ascertain the needs of the affected family. Through the support of the European Union Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) funded Disaster Risk Reduction Project, World Vision was able to provide essential aid such as non-food items (NFI), food, and other necessary supplies. These provisions helped alleviate the immediate challenges faced by the family and contributed to their overall well-being during the recovery process.
Beyond immediate assistance, World Vision recognizes the importance of addressing the multifaceted impact of emergencies. This includes ensuring food security for the affected family, as well as providing mental health support to help them cope with the trauma they have endured. Additionally, child protection services are crucial in safeguarding the emotional well-being and development of the young girls affected by the incident.
WVIL’s commitment to communities extends beyond recovery. By partnering with local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and stakeholders, we aim to restore the family home from ruins. This collaborative effort ensures that the children can regain a sense of stability and security, knowing they have a place to call home once again. Through such initiatives, World Vision contributes to the process of building back better, fostering resilience in the face of adversity.
