Emergency Assistance helps households to rebuild their lives following Cyclone Freddy

In central Mozambique, Zambezia province, survivors of Tropical Cyclone Freddy are gradually recovering from the devastation caused by this natural disaster, which hit the country March this year, with support from the government and its partners, including World Vision.
Xadinha, a mother of four children who saw her home and livelihoods destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Freddy, benefitted most recently from emergency assistance in the form of hygiene items. The young mother was pleased to receive water containers and water purifiers.
This will help me to prevent my children and family from getting water related diseases. Now I no longer have to worry about how to prevent water related diseases such as cholera, especially at times when the rainy season has just begun," she said, Instead of trying to find ways to prevent cholera, for example, I can now concentrate on rebuilding our life, by doing casual works in other people’s farms to buy seeds and grow our own food.
Under the Humanitarian Assistance for Maganja da Costa project and in partnership with the government, World Vision is contributing to increased protection and access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene and to reduced risks of transmission of related diseases. The project is funded by World Vision United States and aims at 500 households in Maganja da Costa district.
