Reconciliation Through Channel of Hope
Abel Bogal, a 53-year-old religious leader from Morehead Station, South-Fly District of Western Province, found his life taking a dark turn involving alcohol and illicit activities after encountering failure.
He met his wife, Susan, during this time and started transforming his life upon becoming a father. Abel became a teacher in the local primary school, organized community sports events, and tried to improve his life.
However, infidelity strained his marriage leading Susan to leave him for a year. Attending the Channel of Hope (CoH) training by World Vision, which included training on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM), changed Abel's perspective and life.
Struck by the discussion on Violence Against Women, Abel reconciled with his wife with the support of friends and family. Susan noticed a profound change in Abel, calling it a divine intervention through the CoH program.
Abel's transformation surprised the community as he went from being a drunkard and aggressive man to an advocate against violence and the President of the Morehead Sports Association.
