Localisation and Working Together For Peace
This video showcases the activities of women who were empowered to participate in the Sierra Leone general elections after receiving training, mentoring and coaching from UN agencies, non-governmental organisations such as World Vision, and women-focused civil society organizations.
The Localization and Working Together for Peace project aimed to reposition women-focused civil society organisations for sustainable peace in Sierra Leone.
Over the years, these organisations have campaigned for women to be at the centre of political and other decision-making processes in the country. The project was funded by the UNPBF, UN Women and its consortium partners, World Vision International Sierra Leone, and UNDP provided the women aspirants with training in leadership skills, manifesto development, and campaigning, as well as education on how to prevent violence against women before, during, and after the elections.
