Five-year-old Diana's journey from Bakhmut to Kyiv amidst ongoing war in Ukraine
Where are Ukraine's children now?
Diana, 5, from Bakhmut lost her speech after witnessing horrific events brought by the war in Ukraine. Her father is missing and her hometown completely destroyed
The family fled to Kyiv, with no shelter and no means to survive in a new environment. World Vision's partner, the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health gave them a safe refuge through its half-way house.
These half-way houses for women with children across Ukraine (Kyiv, Uzhhorod, and Lviv) are supported by World Vision with funding provided by Aktion Deutschland Hilft e.V.
They also provide psychosocial and legal help to some of the most vulnerable women and children: single mothers, low-income, HIV-positive, orphaned and internally displaced.
It opened in Kyiv in 2013, the first of its kind in all of Ukraine, that has now housed hundreds of women.
World Vision has been operating in Ukraine since 2022 and has been able to reach over two million people, including 300 thousand people with the help of Aktion Deutschland Hilft e.V. and other generous donors.
