Gift and Theresa are twins who live in Masamba Village in Zambia. They are 2 years old and they are the only children of Gillian, a 34-year-old single mother.

When Gift and Theresa were 11 months old, they started getting sick. They were weak and they didn't have much energy. Gillian took them to the hospital, but the doctors couldn't find anything wrong with them.

Gillian was worried about her children. She didn't know why they were sick. She started to believe that they had been bewitched. In her village, it is believed that twins are easily bewitched.

One day, a PD Hearth volunteer came to Gillian's house. The volunteer weighed Gift and Theresa and measured their height. She told Gillian that the twins were malnourished.

Malnutrition is a serious condition that can affect a child's growth and development. It can also make a child more susceptible to disease.

The PD Hearth volunteer told Gillian about a program that could help Gift and Theresa. The program provides malnourished children with nutritious food and education about nutrition.

Gillian enrolled Gift and Theresa in the program. The twins started to eat a healthy diet and they received regular medical checkups.

After a few months, Gift and Theresa started to get better. They gained weight and they had more energy. They were no longer sick all the time.

Gillian is grateful for the PD Hearth program. She says that the program has saved the lives of her children. She also says that she now understands that malnutrition is not caused by witchcraft. It is caused by a lack of nutritious food.

“Thank you, World Vision, for saving the lives of children in my community and making me understand that a child can actually eat and still be malnourished it’s actually not witchcraft but not using correct type of foodstuffs (nutritious dense meals),”
