Traditional and Faith Leaders interventions to end Sexual and Gender-Based Violence
The Natwampane project has trained and imparted knowledge in Traditional and Religious Leaders on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), recognizing their crucial role in supporting their subjects and congregants who may be survivors. The project has also equipped them with practical solutions to effectively contribute to the prevention and response efforts.
The project is funded by the European Union in Zambia and implemented by BBC Media Action, Sport in Action, Norwegian Church Aid and World Vision Zambia.
For four years, traditional and religious leaders have used their influence to address and prevent SGBV cases that are related to cultural contexts. They are actively involved in reporting cases, educating their communities on how to handle such incidents, and referring cases to organizations like the One-Stop Centers (OSC) or the police.
