World Vision Zambia and Ministry of Education Strengthen Learning Through the Learning Roots Model

Wednesday, February 26, 2025

Many children in Zambia lack access to quality Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE), affecting their ability to develop essential literacy and numeracy skills at an early age.

To address this, World Vision Zambia, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, is implementing the Learning Roots Model under the Zambia Reading for Education and Development (ZREAD-TP). This play-based approach equips children aged 3 to 6 with foundational skills for lifelong learning. In Chipili Area Programme, we kickstarted ECDE programming with a ‘Train the Trainer’ session from 27th to 31st January 2025, empowering educators and parents to support early learning.

Through Learning Roots, children are developing pre-primary literacy and numeracy skills in an engaging and interactive environment. By actively involving parents, teachers, and communities, we are ensuring that every child gets the best start in life.
