World Vision Zambia, CFAO Motors, and the Ministry of Education Join Forces to Build New Classrooms in Mpande
World Vision Zambia, in partnership with AB CFAO Motors and the Ministry of Education, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of two 1x3 classroom blocks at Mpande Primary School.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, Honorable Douglas Siakalima, Lusaka Provincial Education Officer Mr. Felix Ngoma commended World Vision Zambia and CFAO Zambia for their remarkable partnership.
He noted that the construction of the classroom blocks would help address the challenges of overcrowded learning spaces, enabling students to learn in an environment that fosters focus and creativity.
“The government is delighted to see that World Vision Zambia is incorporating more partners to complement its efforts in providing quality education for children in Zambia,” Mr. Ngoma said. “To CFAO Zambia, what you have done with World Vision today demonstrates your commitment to producing productive adults who will take over the corporate world long after we are gone.”
He also urged community members and children to support the initiative actively. “Infrastructure alone cannot achieve success; it is the active involvement of parents, teachers, and community leaders that will bring this vision to life. Let us work together to ensure that this school becomes a center of excellence, nurturing young minds and shaping future generations,” he said.
World Vision Zambia (WVZ) National Director Marc Nosbach unveiled the $222,500 project, which aims to transform education in the rural community.
The initiative, under the Strong Girls Strong Zambia Campaign and in partnership with CFAO Mobility Zambia, includes the construction of:
Two 1x3 Classroom Blocks: These will alleviate overcrowding, allowing the school to accommodate over 600 learners annually.
Ablution Block with Gender-Segregated Facilities: Designed to promote hygiene and menstrual hygiene management, these facilities will help ensure consistent school attendance, especially for girls.
Mechanized Water System: A reliable water supply will support sanitation facilities and provide safe drinking water.
Staff Housing: Two new houses will address the critical shortage of teacher accommodation, improving retention and the overall quality of education.
The construction is expected to be completed by December 2025, significantly improving the quality of education for the 400 learners currently enrolled at the school.
“This project will not only enhance the quality of education but also bring hope and opportunities for the children in this community,” said Nosbach.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Nosbach reflected on the long-term impact of the initiative.
“As we break ground and lay these symbolic bricks today, I trust that we are laying the foundation for the future of many boys and girls who will pass through this school and contribute to creating a better Zambia,” he said.
With construction set to begin immediately, the project stands as a testament to the power of partnerships and a shared commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education.
