World Vision Zimbabwe recently organized a significant event that brought together various stakeholders to engage in a High-Level Child Rights Dialogue. The event, held in Buhera, aimed to amplify the voices of children and address prevalent child protection issues, fostering a collective effort towards ensuring the well-being and rights of children in the country.

The dialogue provided a crucial platform for children, government departments, community leaders, traditional and religious leaders, and other partners to engage in meaningful discussions and explore ways to enhance child protection measures. By linking current trends in child rights issues with policy provisions, participants delved into the existing gaps and opportunities for improvement in safeguarding children's rights.

The event coincided with the commemoration of the Day of the African Child, celebrated under the theme "Education for all children in Africa; the time is now!" This theme resonated with the urgent need to prioritize access to quality education for every child on the continent, highlighting education as a fundamental right that lays the foundation for a prosperous future.

Mudekunye stressed the need for further education and awareness among communities regarding existing laws that safeguard children's rights, recognizing that comprehensive knowledge is crucial for effective implementation.

“The laws that protect the rights of children have been put in place and people need to continue being educated to know these laws,” said Madekunye.

“These children are the future, the leaders of tomorrow and they need our support and protection as they grow up," he added.

The dialogue highlighted the collective responsibility of society, government, and communities in nurturing and safeguarding children's well-being. It underlined the importance of creating an enabling environment that supports children's rights and ensures their active participation in decision-making processes. By amplifying the voices of children, the dialogue aimed to empower them and provide a platform for their concerns, needs, and aspirations to be heard and addressed.

World Vision Zimbabwe's commitment to promoting child rights and protection was evident through the organization of this significant event. As a leading humanitarian organization, World Vision plays a vital role in advocating for children's rights and facilitating dialogues that contribute to the development and implementation of effective policies and strategies.
