Dr. Monica Chibita joins the World Vision international board
Dr. Monica Chibita, the vice chairperson of the World Vision Uganda board has unanimously been elected to represent East Africa Region on the World Vision International Board.
The Africa Forum, a body that brings together all World Vision Africa national directors and board members to reflect on governance issues, elected Dr.Monica to replace outgoing representative Dr. Racheal Masake who retires January 2016.
Dr. Chibita will be representing Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Burundi, Sudan and South Sudan on the World Vision international board, a role that will see her take part in determining the organisation’s global policies and strategies.
The WVI board is the second top governing body of World Vision International, second to the Triennial council.
“The World Vision International Board handles a lot of policy matters which then trickle down to the national offices. So my main role now will be to filter our concerns from the East African region, share them with the WVI board but also to ensure that decisions made at WVI level filter down to colleagues at the East Africa region and Africa Forum,’’ Monica said shortly after election.
Dr. Chibita, who also sits on the governance committee of World Vision Uganda, is the head of the Mass Communications Department at Uganda Christian University. Prior to this she headed the Mass Communication Department at Makerere University. World Vision operates in more than 95 countries World Wide.
