World Vision Mozambique

World Vision started operating in Mozambique in 1983 providing humanitarian assistance to thousands of displaced people during the civil war. In 1992, after a peace agreement was signed, World Vision-Mozambique (WV Moz) supported the resettlement of 1.5 million refugees and maintained its commitment to the communities, especially with Mozambican children, to build a better future.
Thus, WV Moz has been adapting its internationally proven approaches to addressing poverty and injustice to the context of Mozambique. By partnering with others to contribute to the country's progress and overcome its challenges, while constantly seeking new strategies to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in an effective and integrated way, WV Moz has continued its active role in improving the well-being of millions of Mozambican children.
Throughout the years, through our commitment to the children of Mozambique, we have been able to share proven, world-class development methods to bring food, water, education and economic change. By working with communities to protect children from violence and neglect, caring for them in emergencies, and challenging everyday injustice, we equip and enable empowered communities to make real, lasting change.
From our last strategy cycle (2016-2020) we were able to impact the lives of 3.8 million children in Mozambique in various areas through education, health and nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, child protection and emergency response programming. The current strategy (Our Promise 2021-2025) World Vision Mozambique expects to have made measurable, sustainable, and significant contributions to the well-being of 4 million vulnerable children in Mozambique by 2025.

This is not a professional video, it was captured in a selfie mode to capture a live testimony of the Eráti district in northern Nampula province to report on the situation of the families who have left their homes in the Chiúre district of Cabo Delgado for Nampula in search of safety. Cabo Delgado province has been under attack since 2017, causing the death of thousands of people.  According to the Government, the humanitarian crisis that unfolded affected, at its peak, an estimated 1.2 million people, the majority of whom are children.
