Letter from sponsored children

My name is Le Thi Nhu. I live in Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province and have been a World Vision’s sponsored child for 12 years.

My family was very poor. My dad passed away when I was two-years-old, putting my mum in deep struggles of raising her five daughters.

Nhu hands over to her younger sister the bicycle World Vision gave her when she was a high school student.

During our dark time of life, World Vision staff in Trieu Phong district encouraged us to keep going to school. They invited my mum to join a local development group where villagers learned how to run small business, save money, raise livestock, and take care of children.

No sooner had our lives started getting better than my mum was suddenly diagnosed with heart disease. After her stroke, she became bedridden. We again faced the risk of dropping out of school. The burden fell on my eldest sister’s shoulders as she replaced my mom in the role of breadwinner.

Again, World Vision staff helped us get back to school. The organization granted me a scholarship for my secondary school. When I went to high school, World Vision gave me a bicycle to help me get to school more easily and faster.

So far, my three sisters has graduated university and have stable jobs.

My future is also brighter. I will finish university next year. My dream of being a teacher to help poor students is going to become true.

Not only my life has changed positively, many other poor children living in Quang Tri also were able to finish their basic education thanks to World Vision’s support.

On behalf of children in Quang Tri province, I would like to say thanks to World Vision and our German sponsors who has sent us love and helped us generously during the past 15 years.
