A warm winter for Dien Bien’s poor children

Around 5,000 children in need in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien receive woolen jackets, hats, and scarves on December 15 a holiday event for Christmas and New Year.

Through World Vision, the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group representatives presented the gifts to the children ages, 5 to 13, and who come from poor families in Muong Cha district. The donation was worth US $20,000.

Since 2010, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group in cooperation with World Vision has provided winter blankets, scarves, hats and gloves for underprivileged children in the province with the total cost of US $100,000. 

World Vision started its development programme in Muong Cha in 2007. To date, more than 10,000 households have benefited from the organisation’s activities, including education, health, and child protection. In Dien Bien province, apart from Muong Cha, World Vision is implementing two other programmes in Tua Chua and Tuan Giao districts.
