WASH

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Programme

A world where all children access clean water, safe sanitation, and hygiene

By improving water sources, building sanitation facilities, and promoting hygiene education, we create healthier environments for children to thrive in everyday life.

At World Vision Myanmar (WVIM), we integrate WASH interventions into our health programmes to improve access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices, ensuring healthier communities.

Development Initiatives

WVIM works to enhance water quality, accessibility, and sufficiency in rural and peri-urban areas by developing sustainable water sources and community-led drinking water supply systems. We collaborate with schools and healthcare facilities to improve access to essential water and sanitation services, fostering a safe and hygienic environment. To encourage lasting behavior change, we implement culturally appropriate hygiene promotion initiatives, empowering communities with the knowledge and resources for sustainable impact.

Emergency Response & Rehabilitation

During emergencies, WVIM ensures immediate access to safe water and sanitation by conducting water quality testing, rehabilitating drinking water sources, and cleaning ponds. To address urgent WASH needs, we provide hygiene kits, emergency water supplies, water purification sachets, and sanitary latrines to affected populations. Our rapid response efforts help prevent disease outbreaks and protect the well-being of vulnerable communities.

Our approaches to change

WASH

WASH Integrating into Different Technical Programmes

We integrate WASH interventions into our different technical programmes to improve access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices. We implement Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) programmes, training WASH user group members as Local Artisans. Through the Smart Subsidy approach, we effectively collaborate with communities to eliminate open defecation and to construct and use sanitary latrines.
