Prayer Compels Action

Monday, May 22, 2017

On 21 May 2017, we were so thankful to join the movement of churches, organisations and people of faith worldwide gathering with one voice for the Global Day of Prayer to End Famine.

A compassionate and cascading effect of prayers and advocacy was observed on social media for the millions of children, women and men facing hunger in East Africa.

But, it doesn’t stop here.

As Richard Stearns, President at World Vision US, shared in Relevant Magazine “Praying for people who are suffering is a critical first step preceding action, allowing God to work in our hearts and give us insight and empathy.”

Prayer compels us to love through action. We continue to invite you to #PraytoEndFamine, as the crisis is ongoing.

Tim Costello, Chief Advocate of World Vision Australia, speaks from Imvepi Refugee Settlement in Northern Uganda where 7000 people are getting their first hot meal in days. More than 2000 people a day are arriving from South Sudan – 86 per cent of them women and children.

You can still find resources to lead your family and church here.

And you can find ways to support World Vision’s goal of reaching 2.2 million people with life-saving interventions in East Africa here.
