STOP! La campagne "ASSEZ" est en marche pour toucher des millions d'enfants dans la lutte contre la malnutrition et la faim en République Centrafricaine!

World Vision is stepping up its efforts to end child malnutrition and hunger in the Central African Republic by launching a new "ENOUGH" campaign to reach 2.5 million children. The ENOUGH campaign aims to create a world where every child has access to enough nutritious food to thrive.

  • The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) database shows that hunger and malnutrition are worsening in the Central African Republic. By 2020, more than half of the population will suffer from hunger, compared to less than 40% in 2001. Although the percentage of children under five suffering from stunting decreased slightly between 2000 and 2022, the absolute number of children affected increased by more than 100,000 over the same period.
  • According to the Global Hunger Index (GHI), the Central African Republic is one of the six countries most affected by hunger in 2023.
  • Hunger affects the health and survival of children in CAR, where one in ten children die before the age of five and 40% of children suffer from stunted growth. In addition, 5.3% of children are wasted (UNICEF, WHO, World Bank, 2023).

Bangui, June 21, 2024: The ENOUGH Campaign is mobilising to fight malnutrition and hunger in the Central African Republic (CAR). The official launch of this initiative, scheduled for Friday 21 June 2024, marks the beginning of a collective commitment to a future where every child in the Central African Republic can thrive in an environment free from hunger and malnutrition.
World Vision's Country Director, Nicole Peter, highlights the importance of this initiative for the Central African Republic: "The 'ENOUGH' campaign in CAR is an invaluable opportunity to coordinate our efforts to eradicate hunger and malnutrition. We see this campaign as a step towards a future where every child has access to adequate nutrition and an environment that is conducive to their growth. We are committed to making this campaign a critical turning point in improving the nutritional status of our children.
Similarly, Ms. Carla Denizard, Regional Leader of World Vision in West and Central Africa, shares her perspective on the ENOUGH campaign in the CAR: "This launch demonstrates our continued commitment to addressing the challenge of child malnutrition and persistent hunger in the CAR. We are determined to work in concert with local actors, partners, and communities to bring about significant change in the lives of the most vulnerable children and families. By uniting our strength, we can instigate meaningful change, thus ensuring a better future for our children and the generations to come."
Alexandre Gassama, Advocacy, Communication and Campaign Manager, highlights the opportunities this campaign offers to raise awareness and mobilise stakeholders:  "The ENOUGH campaign allows us to further raise awareness of the hunger and malnutrition crisis in CAR. We are determined to mobilise the government, partner organisations and civil society to pool our efforts and resources in support of this vital cause". At the United Nations General Assembly in September 2023, World Vision pledged to mobilise $3.4 billion to fight child hunger and malnutrition.

Globally, over the next three years, World Vision will focus on reducing hunger and improving nutrition for 125 million children in 67 of the world's most vulnerable countries, as well as implementing nutrition programmes for 6 million children aged 0-18, and providing appropriate treatment for 750,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition. This will require a strong commitment from all stakeholders and effective coordination.
In February, we launched the ENOUGH campaign at continental level on the sidelines of the 37th African Union Summit.
Given the alarming situation in the West and Central Africa region and across the continent, World Vision will invest US$1.7 billion in the ENOUGH campaign across the African continent over the next three years.
This investment will specifically target the escalating hunger crisis in 27 African countries, including the Central African Republic and eight other countries in West and Central Africa.

World Vision's global campaign is based on the principle that children's right to adequate food must be respected, protected and fulfilled, and that no child should go to bed hungry. This is in response to the challenges posed by climate change, conflict and rising food prices, which are increasing the number of children in need.
We have had ENOUGH, but we believe there is ENOUGH for every child.
