World Vision International, in partnership with MA’AN Development Centre, has launched a new project titled “Towards Climate Change Action with Nutrition Co-Benefits for Vulnerable Families in Areas B and C in the West Bank.” This 36-month initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with a budget of 1.5 million euros, will target 30 communities across the West Bank and is expected to benefit approximately 33,000 individuals.

The project aims to enhance climate resilience and improve nutritional outcomes in vulnerable communities through the following key actions:
•    Establishing a joint nutrition and climate change mitigation committee involving the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Environment Quality Authority.
•    Empowering community-based organizations (CBOs) to implement and manage climate-smart, nutrition-friendly interventions while providing support to selected households.
•    Developing and disseminating Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials at the community level to raise awareness about climate change and nutrition.

The West Bank is highly susceptible to the impacts of climate change, grappling with significant environmental challenges such as water scarcity, soil degradation, desertification, and unsustainable land practices. These issues are compounded by the region's fragile ecosystems, limited sovereignty, and financial constraints.

In response to these challenges, the project seeks to enhance the climate resilience and nutritional well-being of communities in Areas B and C through coordinated communication efforts, capacity-building activities, and climate mitigation measures. By involving local stakeholders, the initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action), aiming to empower communities, promote environmental awareness, and safeguard the rights of Palestinian children to a healthy and sustainable environment.
