A collection of impact stories from the Sikai Project, a 6-year project funded by the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and implemented by a consortium of World Vision International Nepal, Handicap International, and World Education with the implementing partner as Rastriya Rojgar Prawardhan Kendra (RRPK) in Sarlahi district.

Sikai project employs a multi-pronged approach to create a truly inclusive learning environment. Teachers receive training in child-centered and inclusive teaching methods, utilizing specialized learning materials. Schools themselves undergo upgrades to improve accessibility and safety. This includes essential Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities, playgrounds, and better school governance.

The project prioritizes the most vulnerable. Children with disabilities receive assistive devices to support their learning needs, while out-of-school girls are offered educational supplies to help them reintegrate into classrooms. Sikai recognizes the power of community. By engaging local groups and networks, the project addresses social barriers that hinder inclusive education. It also works to strengthen local protection mechanisms, ensuring a safe learning environment for all children.

Ultimately, Sikai strives to break down inequalities within the education system. By working with schools, communities, and parents, the project empowers children with disabilities and out-of-school girls to participate equally in education and achieve their full potential.
