Despite progress in Cambodia’s water and sanitation sector, rural areas, where most of the population resides, still face significant challenges in accessing clean water: only 1 in 5 people from these areas use safely managed drinking water services in 2023.

An independent evaluation of World Vision’s efforts to bring piped water connections to rural households in Cambodia highlights strategic recommendations to achieve the 6th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG): ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Based on the evaluation, the policy brief “Flowing Forward” underscores the critical need for increased investment to expand piped-water connections, especially to reach the most vulnerable communities.
