World Vision’s Andrew Morley calls for global focus on peace

Pray for Peace burning candle against a dark background

London, Dec 15 2023 - Reverend Andrew Morley, the World Vision International President and Chief Executive, has called for a global focus on peace and prioritising children amidst the ongoing Middle East Crisis and conflicts across the world.

 Reverend Morley says:

“Billions across the world are preparing to mark the birth of Christ, the Prince of Peace. We pray that we can truly realise this time of hope, understanding and love that Christ shared with us. World Vision is calling for global leaders to put aside differences and agree that, of the many things which unite humanity, we must focus on our desire to create a better world for all children.

“A global and lasting peace is possible everywhere, if the will and leadership to enact it emerges. Children are disproportionately impacted by the carnage, death and destruction that we see across the world. We pray that all world leaders realise this horror is not acceptable for any child.

“For too long we have seen children impacted negatively by the decisions of adults. We have seen endless cycles of violence across the world. We urge world leaders to break that cycle and work towards a generation of children who only know peace and grow to build a world of peace. No child deserves to live through conflict and acts of terror.”

World Vision is currently supporting vulnerable children across the Middle East by responding to urgent family needs, creating safe spaces, and providing psychological services. They are also responding in 100 countries across the world, many where displaced children will need help and hope this Christmas. But above all, our prayer is for peace on earth.
