Joint statement: "Keep education high on the EU external agenda and ensure that no one is left behind”

On 11 April 2024, the European Commission and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Global Gateway High-Level Education Event will co-host the 'Global Gateway High-Level Education Event', aiming to highlight the EU's role in transforming global education and bridging skills gaps.

One week ahead of the event, nine civil society organisations, including World Vision, have published a joint statement including a series of recommendations to the European Commission.

The statement, while recognising the increased attention and support for education in the EU's external action from the European Commission in the last four years, shows that some crucial issues need to be addressed to ensure that equity, quality and inclusion underpin the EU's work in education.
