To evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at addressing the drought emergency in southern Angola, the Anticipatory Action Project for Mitigating the Impact of El Niño—funded by the Start Fund and coordinated by People in Need in collaboration with World Vision Angola—conducted a survey in select communities within Chibia municipality, Huíla province.

The post-distribution monitoring (PDM) aimed to assess the effectiveness of these actions by focusing on beneficiary satisfaction, the use of provided items, encountered challenges, and the overall impact of the interventions. Conducted between August 7 and 15, the survey involved 301 families and was executed by ten enumerators using the digital technology KoboCollect for data collection.

As part of the project, World Vision Angola (WVA) distributed 1,380 water acquisition and conservation kits to ten villages and also facilitated the installation and rehabilitation of water boreholes.

This survey was vital for gauging beneficiary perceptions of the services provided, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the interventions effectively addressed the needs of communities affected by the drought.

Upon project completion, ten water distribution points were established and are now managed by the Water and Sanitation Groups (GAS). These points are expected to supply a daily total of 15,000 liters of water to Chibia’s communities. Each distribution point includes a reservoir with a capacity exceeding 7,000 liters, designed to alleviate water scarcity and provide a reliable source of this essential resource.
